Bremen-München (Munich)-Toronto

Restaurant at the airport in Munich: The name reminded us of Vienna!

A long flight, but everything worked out well.  We did not lose our luggage, the Canadians did let me into their country after I had paid $49 dollars, and the ride back with a stop at a grocery store was accomplished with the help of a very friendly and talkative student.  Now we are unpacking our 16 suitcases.

  1. Wieder in Amerika?

    5. Ja, sie sind eben sehr mysteriöse Tiere.

  2. Ah! So here you are :) Welcome Home! I'm glad you were able to enter Canada! It sounds like quite a story!

It feels so strange to have you back in the States! Julius must be happy. Can you post a picture of him?

Did you eat at Sissi and Franz?!

    1. Ah, here is the other welcome home comment, I must have overlooked it! When I wanted to get my boarding pass in Bremen, they told me the computer did not accept me, but the lady did not know why. She finally thought it was because I was flying to Canada and had not bought the right visa. She told me I should try to get one right there. So Jonathan got out his phone and together we filed an application for a tourist visa. We got it immediately (but had to pay $49.00) and then the computer would give me a boarding pass. I thought this was all crazy, the Lufthansa lady thought so too. She said this was a fairly new "idea" to make traveling more complicated.

I will take a picture of Julius.

No, we did not, we did not have enough time to eat in Munich.

  3. I bet it is really lovely to be home :-). Why were you charged $49.00?

    1. Yes, it is wonderful! All foreigners have to pay $49.00 to enter the country. That is the fee for a visitor's visa. Only Americans are exempt, but I am not an American and my permanent resident status was not enough. This is a new regulation because I have flown to Toronto before without any "fees."

  4. Yes, to have our own house back is truly wonderful. Canada has a new policy for all visitors, except Americans: You have to get a visitor's visa and pay 49.00 Canadian dollars. America apparently does the same, but I have a green card, so I do not have to pay. It is just ridiculous to charge 49.00 dollars for somebody who spends just two hours in the country, though. That was really annoying.

    1. So strange! And it certainly isn't very welcoming!

    2. No, and I lived in their country and it has always held a special place in my heart. It was especially annoying because I was only about two hours in Canada, maybe three!

Was für spannende Monate hinter euch liegen!

Vielen Dank schon mal!
