Weekend/Wochenende

The American grandparents came to visit for the weekend.  It was so nice to see them again!

Am Wochenende waren die amerikanischen Großeltern da.  Es war schön, sie wieder zu sehen.

There is very bad and aggressive stomach virus on campus, or maybe it is food poisoning, nobody knows what it is.  We had planned to eat at the cafeteria, but after over 75 students had gotten sick, we decided to eat at home.  There are disinfectant wipes in all classrooms now, but still students are getting sick.  We just hope that we will not get this.  It seems to be very bad and the board of health is trying to find out what is going on.

Charlotte and Miriam went to a Maronite church with the Catholic Club yesterday.  They thought the service was beautiful, but very different.  As a Catholic, you are allowed to take communion at this church.  They took some pictures, which I will post soon.

  1. It is always lovely to spend time with family. Hope the board of health get to the bottom of the problem and that you all remain bug free. We have a winter bug known as the Norovirus and that is a horrendous vomiting bug. We all had it a few years ago, not nice xx

    1. Yes, it was nice to see them. We only see them twice a year. The board of health has not found out what is wrong. We are up to 140 cases now. Norovirus was one possibility, but they are not sure.

    2. That is a whole heap of sickness going on! Have they shut down a part of the campus or is it business as usual? We have had schools close over here if they have reached a critical number of cases to try and stop the spread of infection. Xx

    3. It takes a long time here before things get shut down in the U.S. Everything is just as usual, there are just some extra safety measures in the dining-hall. Jonathan told me that 15% of all the students (and some staff) are sick now.

  2. It's so nice to have the grandparents visit :) and I'm glad you stayed away from the cafeteria. That was smart. I hope the students get well soon and that the health officials figure out what is going on. Stay healthy . . Can you take vitamin C? The church sounds fun and lovely.

  3. It was nice to have them and they made it home safely without getting sick. We have 140 cases now of sick students and nobody really knows what it is. I doubt that Vitamin C would prevent us from getting it. I am still waiting for Miriam's pictures.
